Google+, In an attempt to redesign its social product, is placing an emphasis on its Communities and Collections features.  They have in turn completely removed the display of reviews and such information as addresses, phone numbers, business categories, and hours of operation.

This is What it will Mean for Local Businesses.

 

From what I understand reviews are still be accessible on Google Search and Maps which is the primary way that users find business reviews.”

 

I see that this new change will be a huge….

 

I see that this new change will be a huge concern for local SEO and businesses. Google+ will no longer serve as a  “directory listing page” to host business information and reviews. It will begin to be a place for business owners to share content for potential customers.

 

They are doing this in collaboration…..

 

They are doing this in collaboration with the new update that was made with intent to encourage business owners to maintain an active presence on Google+.  This like Google search engine is content driven.

 

Google’s wants to distance itself from Facebook…

 

Google’s wants to distance itself from Facebook, with more focus on users’ interests, rather than a focus on “friends”. that would explain their emphasis on Communities and Collections features in the new redesign.

Remember that management of directory listing information, including the ability to respond to reviews, can still be handled separately within the Google My Business dashboard. So this is good!
